The Art and Craft of Barbering

Every Thursday afternoon, young men have the opportunity to step into the world of barbering in our very own barbershop at The YAC. Designed as a hands-on introduction, this workshop teaches foundational skills such as clipper techniques, scissor work, and fading. Under the guidance of an experienced barber, participants will gain practical experience while learning about hygiene, tool maintenance, and client communication.

Beyond technical skills, this workshop fosters a sense of pride and professionalism. Barbering is a trade that has long been a place for mentorship, storytelling, and community-building. As young men practice their craft, they also build confidence, patience, and an appreciation for detail. Whether they are interested in a future career or simply want to learn how to give a great haircut, this program offers a great place to start. By the end of the workshop series, participants will have a deeper understanding of the barbering craft and the confidence to take their skills further.
